A day for us

I feel as though I am constantly complaining about how busy we continue to stay, but  the truth is we have not (and will not in the foreseeable future) had a free weekend in awhile.  We were thrilled to figure out we had no plans Saturday until later that night.  John had just gotten his jon boat out of the shop so we decided to spend the day on the lake.  He was like a kid in a candy shop full of excitement- seriously.  I was just as excited to have a day with just us on the lake with a cooler… not talking about anything wedding.  It’s the simple things in life.IMG_3072IMG_3074IMG_3075IMG_3076  The weather was beautiful, the water was calm- it was perfect to say the least.  We stopped at The Riverdeck for lunch (their popcorn shrimp is de-licious, by the way) and when trying to leave, the boat refused to start.  After a few trips for new parts, a helpful father-in-law (to be), a very mad John and 105 degree heat- our day for us was short lived.
I love that I can laugh about this now because it was in no way funny when I was “babysitting” the boat in the hottness.  We are hoping to get back out again for one last time before the end of summer!

A lot of nothing…

This past weekend John and I joined my parents at the beach for what would be my last true vacation as a Watson!!  That secretly freaks me out and makes me so excited all at the same time.  Other than the numerous bachelorette parties and random here and there days off(for out of town weddings, of course!!), my time off is being saved for somewhere tropical- ahh!!

To start the weekend off right, we  I made 8 pounds of boiled peanuts.  Yes 8.  I have always loved boiled peanuts but I think my love turned into LOVE since we figured out the secret to making our own (Thanks Uncle Vernon!).  IMG_2944We had perfect beach weather Saturday and Sunday!IMG_2953I am not a big Dawson’s Creek fan, in fact I think the only episode I saw just so happened to be the Spring Break one.  The episode was filmed at this house!  IMG_2955We did a lot of this…IMG_2959

Progress

As veggies lovers, we were pleasantly surprised to find that our yard came fully equipped with a garden and irrigation system.  A few Saturdays ago we headed out in search of veggies to plant.  We came home with tomato, squash, cucumber and 3 different type of pepper plants.  Recently Updated-1I will be the first to tell you, I know nothing about gardening.  I didn’t get my hopes up and told myself we would just experiment this first time around.  Much to my surprise, the tomatoes and banana peppers are growing.  However, I think we are going to have to wait until next year on the others.Summer 2011-1We are now the proud owners of a TV that measures bigger than a computer monitor!  Kidding, kind of.  We have been putting off buying a new TV until after the closing and we finally settled with a Sony.  I am not much of a TV watcher but it has certainly made for one happy Fiancé!  IMG_2937 John’s dad gifted us with 2 new rocking chairs recently.  They are perfect for our front porch but John insisted on painting them.  I have to admit, I’m glad we did but it reminded me of just how much I despise painting.

the finished product….IMG_2942The house is definitely a work in progress but we have had so much fun making it into our home!   I hope to have more projects to share soon!

SOLD!

After 2 stressful long months, we are officially Homeowners!  Our intent was to start house hunting in January with hopes of closing and moving in right before the wedding.  That quickly changed once we found the house and knew we couldn’t wait.  It is the perfect starter home for us and we could not be  more excited!  IMG_2856IMG_2857IMG_2851I was so excited to find my favorite flowers blooming in the yard- Hydrangeas!  Consider yourself warned- you will be seeing a lot of these in the next year!:)IMG_2853

Is this really happening?

John surprised me with a massage from Massage Envy for Christmas- I had never had one and was really excited to see what all the fuss was about.  My company allows me to “flex” every other Friday and leave at 12:00, so I decided it would be the perfect way to start off my weekend.  I scheduled my massage for 1:30 and feeling extra generous, I surprised John and scheduled him for one too.  We met for lunch at McAlisters and headed over in time for our hour of rest and relaxation.

Rewind to Monday- If you know John and I, you know we are always.on.the.go.  I woke up that morning thinking I just want to stay home for ONE weekend.  Well, John and I had planned to visit friends in Charleston and he was not going to let me back out.  All week the plans changed.  We are staying with so and so, we are going here, we are going there, we are doing this…. and now that.  By Friday the plan was, or so I thought- We are meeting my friend that works in the athletic department on campus to pick up box tickets, meeting Chris and baby Henry at the stadium and after going to eat sushi with all his friends and we need to leave  no later than 3:30.

Friday comes and I finally experience that little piece of heaven that everyone talks about and rushed home to shower and be ready as I was told.  We hit the road and make it to campus just in time to grab the tickets.  As we are getting out the car John makes his phone call to his friend.  At this point I am following John onto the parade deck paying absolutely no attention to anything around me.   IMG_4447The next thing I know, John is on one knee and all I remember is repeating “Is this really happening”.  I of course said “YES”!IMG_4453IMG_4465IMG_4489Chris and baby Henry were there to capture the engagement!  I could have not asked for anything more perfect and fitting.    We celebrated with friends in Charleston Friday night and headed home Saturday morning to see our families!   IMG_2175IMG_2179 April 20, 2012!
