USC vs. Vandy

As we were packing up to leave Saturday, the bottom fell out of the sky.  I was a little nervous as I was NOT going to be stand in the rain to drink beer and socialize.  BUT, it quickly stopped and we were on our way to tailgate {but not without being fully armed with rain boots and jackets!}.  John was able to get box tickets through work so we were spoiled with food, drinks, comfy seats and “front” row seats all night. {At that point, I didn’t care if it rained- selfish? oops!} DSC_0624DSC_0623DSC_0625 DSC_0626 DSC_0622 Football 201110Football 201111DSC_0653DSC_0669As always, we had a great time and our Gamecocks pulled out a WIN to make us 4-0!!

Happy Birthday…

…to one of my longest and closest friends, Meredith!!  Meredith and I have been friends for as long as I can remember and remained friends through the years.   Had I gotten a chance to put my hands on some awkward pictures from the past, this post would be much more exciting {and embarrassing!}.  No worries, I still have the pictures from the time I took scissors to her bangs and I’m not promising those wont surface at some point.

I hope you had a wonderful 26th birthday!  I love you, Meems {even when you trick me into drinking apple juice vinegar and things of the like}!

Wedding Wednesday {Austin and Scottie- Take 2}

I am lame and have run out of things to talk about regarding my own wedding so I am going to share more exciting and fun things!

2 weeks from today we will be on our way to North Carolina for Scottie and Austin’s Wedding weekend!!  Scottie is the first friend out of way.too.many  about 15 to get hitched and I think I can speak for everyone when I say it is beyond exciting!

We threw a “Miscellaneous” Shower for Austin and Scottie Friday night and The Zimmermans were gracious enough to allow us to have it at their house.

{disclaimer- I once again failed at my intentions of taking lots of pictures}

Watson’s TWO!

I can remember the day our sweet “baby” Watson was born and now he is TWO?!?  Where has the time gone?

He has been such a blessing to our family- it has been so fun watching him grown and find interest in the little things in life.  This years theme was a train party.  To say he is obsessed with all things boy- train, planes, trucks, tractors- would be an understatement.  IMG_3299 IMG_3300 IMG_3303 IMG_3316IMG_3311He is not as shy as his big sister when he is sung to.  Although he seemed a bit confused at first, he was diving face first into his cupcake in no time.  Football 20115Football 20116-1Grandmama surprised Emory with a gift of her ownFootball 20117before she helped little brother with hisIMG_3319   Happy Birthday, sweet boy!!  I love you!

Wedding Wednesday {Ramblings}

If my calculations are correct, I have 31 more of these posts until the Big Day- uh yikes, what did I get myself into?!?  I have been questioning myself on what I would write about this week and I have nothing.  So, Instead I am going to ramble.
I’m asked at least every other day how planning is going.  In the beginning I loved that question- it was new and fun and I had so much to do.  Now, not so much.  Maybe because I’ve been doing it non stop for the past 6 months.  Maybe because it feels like it will NEVER get here.  Either way, I still force a smile and respond “GREAT!” in true happy bride fashion.  Don't get me wrong, I am a very happy bride but this planning sometimes feels like it’s for the birds.
However, the past few weeks have been an exception.  I have made so much progress lately that I’ve actually caught myself hoping that someone, anyone and everyone will ask!
A few months ago, I ordered my bridesmaids gifts (all the way from Ireland!)… well half of the gift.  Like everything else, it was waiting game until they came in and I could actually see them.  I. am. in. love.  I did order myself “one” and I am already wanting to “use” them!
As mentioned in last weeks post, we got our proofs back from our engagement pictures that also included our save-the-date shot.  We immediately sent the picture to Tara to get started on them and as of today, they are approved and finalized!  I looked at them over and over and over again before finally making a decision.  I am praying she does not give me that many options for the invitations or I am screwed, for lack of better terms. Indecisiveness at its finest.   Oh and John- well he has expressed a little bit of obsession over them but shh don't tell him I told you!
Last but certainly not least (drum roll), THE list is finally coming together.  It may have been forced as I can’t send save-the-dates without it but it’s getting done nonetheless.  I have come to swear by the “wedding list” function on The Knot.
I don't even know if I define wedding season the same way others do, but our wedding season is starting to pick up.  So far we have 7 weddings between now and June 2012, exciting but scary.  There could be many more.
First up- Scottie and Austin. yay!  Did I mention it is in The Highlands and we are having an adult mountain weekend?  double yay!   We are throwing a shower Friday for them and I can’t wait to share the excitement via the blog with all of you!

Growing up is fun

...and weird. In the past, I was waking up at the crack of dawn to gear up for a long hot day of tailgating.

Today, we are so lucky to be forced to skip the norm and sit in a marriage class from 9-4. We are fully equipped with coffee, 5 hour energy(s) and good attitudes.... At least until 9:15.

If you are one of the unlucky ones in Athens, tailgating and enjoying your Saturday.... GO COCKS!

Wedding Wednesday {engagement pictures}

Thank goodness for a short week and now an even shorter week for the Watson-Thompson duo.  We have spent the day battling doctors office waiting rooms and pharmacy lines thanks to… strep.  John tested positive. Mine came back negative however the doctor told me I had all the symptoms and that the tests aren’t 100% accurate, meaning I could have it but it may not show on the test. Another swab of the mouth (for strep B) and an antibiotic prescription later, I was on my way home.  Praying for good health tomorrow as I can’t afford sick time off.   090711170553Anywho, we got our proofs back from the fabulous Zil Photography yesterday and I.am.obsessed.  Liz is amazing to say the least!  I couldn’t resist sharing a few and the save the date picture we were going for is exactly what I imagined.  Be on the look out in your mailbox soon to see for yourself:)

We took the pictures in Liberty Hill at John’s Family’s house/property where he grew up which makes the pictures extra special! 13 1    7

Thank you Zil!!

30 beers for 30 years

What a fun and creative party my sister threw for Aaron’s 30th!  Sunday was spent cleaning house, cooking and preparing for the big bash!   DSC_0358

The theme was 30 beers for 30 years.  Each person was given their own pint glass to sample all 30 beers.  Starting with light beers and ending with dark.DSC_0345Recently Updated3DSC_0338 The birthday boy had a little help from the brothers in law to be with setting up the Keg station for those guests who did not wish to participate in the tasting.  DSC_034130 beers.DSC_0344the boys and granddaddy were there to supervise.  Football 20112Football 20113In lieu of a birthday cake, Amy made these Guinness Cupcakes.  de-licious. DSC_0352DSC_0354  Watson enjoyed the cupcakes while Emory’s full attention was on the glow sticks.  Football 20114 The kiddos were put to bed and the celebrations continued.  I failed at my intentions of snapping lots of pictures of the birthday boy and his guests.  Thanks for including us- we had a great time and were happy to celebrate the big 3-0!
