I had never been to Chicago but it’s one of John’s favorite places. The Angels/Cubs series happened to be there which meant we could see Michael but also enjoy and explore the city.
We caught the 5:30 {A.M.} flight out of Columbia Tuesday morning so that we could have the full day to start our trip.
After settling into the hotel {and feeding/ changing/ tending to the babe} we started towards The Navy Pier. It was overcast which was nice with the slight breeze.
We had lunch at Harry Caray’s Tavern on the Pier and due to weather we ended up taking cover in the mall to shop.
John had us at the field by 5 that day so I could experience Murphy’s for the first time. Such a fun place!
We made our way into the park so we could see Michael before the game. Yes, that is my 3 1/2 month old baby on Wrigley Field. Proud daddy moment to say the least.
We knew going there that there was a chance he wouldn’t pitch but we hoped and prayed he would. and HE DID! Such a surreal moment watching your cousin in the major leagues but seeing it in person takes it to another level. We were so excited and proud!
The Angels ended up losing that night but we were still able to meet him at his hotel and grab a few drinks and visit.
On Wednesday we started out with some Chicago deep dish pizza. Who knew everyone had an opinion on this. We ended up at Lou Malnati’s but I can’t imagine any of its not delicious!
We weren’t able to stay at the Pier for long the day before so we headed back.
I read about the Ferris Wheel prior to our trip so I wanted to take a ride. Other than the gorgeous views of the city and water, it wasn’t anything more exciting.
Anderson also had his first Carousel ride. He was less than impressed and I got yelled at for sitting on the hour with him. {b/c you are supposed to put a baby on alone?}
We walked explored some more of the city towards Magnificent Mile and The Bean!
We shopped a little more, got ready for dinner and after went to the last game.
The Angels won and we got to see Michael again after the game!
The trip was short but so worth it!
